We work on several economic topics, mainly for policy makers, where we conduct research with so-called microdata to establish macro-descriptions. This means that the business unit, or enterprise, is the core unit from which we work and to which we link information. Information traditionally becomes available through surveys or registers, but also increasingly through innovative methods like webscraping or other big data approaches. Topics such as international trade, investments, R&D expenditure and innovation are recurring on a daily basis. As a doctoral candidate I conducted a study in the field of synthetic biology with a focus on computational strategies. With the aid of various in silico approaches, we aimed to rationally design cell-free synthetic network motifs capable of predefined high-order temporal dynamics. The Department Council of the Department of Biomedical Engineering serves as a supervisory body for the Department Board. As an elected member I participated in reviewing and eventually approving the Department´s budget, the educational program for students and the management of research groups including - but to a lesser extent - personnel affairs.

Instructor in several first and second year courses in the BSc curriculum of Biomedical Engineering at TU/e-Bioinformatics in Python-Electromagnetism-Signals and systems theory-Physics in physiology.Also tutor/supervisor for groups of students working on scientific projects.

As a research intern at the University of Birmingham, UK, I worked on inferring the gene network underlying the ability of E. coli to adapt to temperature increase utilizing a linear state space model in combination with large amounts of 'omics' data.
