I am an Asset Integrity Management enthusiast in the petrochemical industry. I am focusing on storage tanks. One of my earliest work experiences with storage tanks was helping out with an inspection of a large crude oil storage tank. I was green as grass. The inspection did not reveal any corrosion and repairs where not needed. The tank was in a good state. The inspection party was happy that they did not have to report bad news to the maintenance manager and the maintenance manager was happy that he did not have unexpected costs and downtime. I was stunned! I did not understand why everybody was happy with this outcome. There were huge costs involved in taking this tank out of service, cleaning and inspecting it. These costs could have been avoided, since nothing was wrong with this tank. That got me thinking that there must be models to predict corrosion and failure. And this is how I got into Asset Integrity Management. And I have been trying to help clients operate responsibly and cost efficient ever since. Specialties: Asset Integrity Management based on API 653, API 580, API 581, API579 and EEMUA 159. Experience with software systems such as Ansys, ACET (Oceaneering), IDMS, RBIT360 and RRM (Shell).
