Since childhood, I have had a special interest in science especially chemistry which fascinated me, both purely academically and in its varied and massively important applications. Throughout my under-graduation course, chemistry appealed to my practical and analytical nature; where that part of me starts by asking: "How?" and "Why?" and doesn't give up until I have the answers. My love of chemistry led me to take part and also organize various events in my college.I developed a research outlook while working on my project during bachelor programme aimed at synthesizing silver nanoparticles from grape extract. I learnt that various spectroscopic technique skills are required to carry on further investigations. During master’s, I took crystallography and nanotechnology as elective courses. I was trained to prepare samples and characterize using UV and IR. Our university had a wide range of instruments including that used for crystallography and we were given a good demonstration of the theoretical and operational aspects. I was also particularly fortunate to work in my second year of master's on a summer research project with Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Senior Principal Scientist at the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India where I was assigned to chemically synthesize a natural product "Fusaristatin C" which was obtained from an Octocoral fungus. This 6-month laboratory experience was a true reflection of Thomas A. Edison's words, "I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work.''. Finding out the most effective and efficient routes to synthesize the molecule was challenging and thoroughly helped me to be specific and accurate. I picked up the practical aspects of analytical techniques like chromatography, a combination of IR, UV, proton NMR, C-13 NMR characterization of molecules and polarimetry. Moreover, I was able to co-relate other works in this field through extensive reading of literature.I graduated MSc Chemistry from Cochin university of Science and Technology, India in 2019 and migrated to the United States of America (Houston, Texas) in 2022. Currently, I am a novice seeking for an entry-level chemist position in organizations where I can utilize my extensive knowledge about the area gained during my masters degree. Proficient in English language skills to create reports and analyze data. Willing to learn and operate the required instruments for the job. Future goal is to conduct research and open a lab of my own.
