Performs repairs to the ship's hull, plumbing and piping systems, and structural members.Performs brazing, electrical arc welding, oxyacetylene welding and cutting, and MIG/TIG welding; repairs ship plumbing and piping systems; fabricates damage control patches, sheet metal ducting, brackets, ladders, and platforms; completes maintenance data forms; orders repair parts and tools; maintains shipboard sewage systems.Performs gas-free testing of voids and compartments to ensure safe entry; performs repairs to ship structure using heavy gauge metal; completes maintenance reports; inspects and repairs installed equipment.Organizes and supervises damage repair parties; prepares training records; reviews completed maintenance data forms; prepares weekly maintenance schedules.

Attended Hazardous Material Control Management Technician class and awarded NEC 9595.Performs duties associated with Hazardous Material Control and Management. Performs Hazardous Material Control planning and management of material handling equipment. Responsible for inventorying, receiving, transferring and properly turning in all hazardous waste from all Navy commands.Attended NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector workshop and certified as NAVSEA BPI.The NBPI course is a five-day inspection course that was developed by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) to train coatings inspectors to inspect critical coated areas as defined by US Navy policy documents.
