Irrigation and Waterways department is a separate department under the Government of West Bengal which came into being in the year 1920 and is solely devoted to providing irrigation facilities, offering reasonable protection against flood, alleviating drainage congestion, arresting erosion, maintaining internal navigation channels and up-keeping the natural waterways in the state. Developed a rainfall forecasting model using Auto-Arima model in R, which helped in the forecasting of rainfall for the next 10 years using the past years rainfall data.
