Application Delivery Quality LeadMicrosoft Apr 2014 - Jan 2016TampereI was part of the team which moved over to Microsoft from Nokia. My responsibilities remained in the transition. -
Application Delivery Quality LeadNokia Sep 2012 - Apr 2014TampereI was responsible for running testing activities, with the right scope and using appropriate testing methods for locally and globally relevant 3rd party applications that are preloaded to Microsoft devices at the factory. As a recognized expert in the company fought against malware in Nokia Store and brought the 3rd party developer view to Nokia X security planning.Details:In September 2012 Nokia decided to move preload application testing service from Vancouver to Tampere. It was necessary to build the service so that Nokia R&D could trust the used testing methods and results.-I implemented similar service to Tampere for Windows Phone applications (with continuum to Windows 10 mobile), Java ME applications and later for Nokia X (AOSP) applications.-That meant that I established and lead a test team consisting of external partners and later I revamped that to a team having internal and external testers.-The team was located mainly in Tampere with supporting functions in Sunnyvale, California and Beijing, China.-I made vast improvements to the used process and gained trust from Nokia R&D to the testing done in Tampere.-This removed the need from R&D to test the same applications, which introduced cost and time savings.-I introduced proper test criteria, application power consumption measuring and visibility for Nokia R&D to the testing findings.Over the years ~2000 application titles were tested by the team I led.-No Critical errors were leaked to the market. -
Manager, Application Testing Services | Senior Manager, Testing & Device AccessNokia Oct 2003 - Aug 2012Tampere, FinlandI was the Nokia representative in Symbian Signed.I participated to the creation of Symbian OS wide third party application testing and signing program by providing technical and process related requirements to the work on behalf of Nokia. This work resulted into the opening of the program for customers in 2004.After which I then actively promoted and introduced the program to its potential users virtually or in different conferences.Based on the feedback from the customer's I influenced the program from expensive “all applications must be tested” to much cheaper “self-signing” program. When Symbian Ltd. was discontinued, I took over the program and brought it to Nokia. Then I, with a team, run and developed the program so that it could run almost on its own. We successfully ramped down the program at the end of 2013.I was a Nokia representative in Java Verified:Java Verified was targeted to Java ME-application testing, signing and marketing promotion.I participated to the technical and commercial creation and development of the program. Early 2004 we opened the program for customers. I was actively developing the program over the years to make it easier to its customers. Lastly I planned the ramp-down of the program in 2015 together with App Quality Alliance.During this time I gave presentations in conferences and virtually to the potential users about the Java Verified and technical aspects of Java ME, such as application signing.Additionally I lead a team and managed annual budget, of about 1,5M€, which run Symbian Signed and Device Access Services in Forum Nokia organization. The team offered services which allowed the Forum Nokia customers to test applications in a live device. Lastly I successfully led the team through a challenging change of moving the Device Access Services from Espoo, Finland to Tampere, Finland.I did briefly participate to the work of the Car Connectivity Consortium, as a subject matter expert. -
