1. Plan for and provide direct nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and standards.2. Operate patient-related equipment in accordance with established hospital procedures and report damaged/malfunctioning equipment to the Head Nurse.3. Perform endorsement with incoming staff at change over of shift.13. Observe and respond to patients’ psychological, emotional and spiritual needs.14. Call for the Code when the situation warrants it.15. Perform specific duties during Code Red/Blue situations.16. Teach/Direct non-nursing personnel and student affiliates in performance of duties.17. Ensure preoperative checklist and patient/guardians consent and approval for procedure is completed accurately (whether in or out patient).18. Prepare and maintain sterile environment in accordance with hospital policy (this includes weekly general cleaning).19. Provide nursing care in accordance with hospital policies and standards.20. Ensure the OR/DR Complex is clean, sanitary and orderly at all times.21. Facilitate disposal of infectious wastes and blood products.22. Ensure counts/ tallies of sponges and instruments are complete and accurate, and record the same.24. Ensure sterilization of all instruments in accordance with hospital protocol.
