Provided business strategy overview for the City Deveopment Department, ensuring that the Department was run on a basis of Best Value. In addition, undertook city promotion and economic development activities, in tandem with project management support, to a range of projects across the organisation.

Supported the core team in Festivals Edinburgh, to capture and articulate ideas in a project management format, around how Edinburgh Festival's could maximise the opportunities presented by the 2012 London Olympics and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Acted in a consultancy role with particular focus on business development. Projects include the establishment of Destination Edinburgh Marketing Alliance (DEMA); and, a revised budget assessment and setting process. In addition, contributed to the pre-project work for a competitive dialogue process for the joint venture or external delivery of a range of local government services, as well as contributing to a revised stakeholder engagement model relating to physical and economic development.

Led the Department on Best Value and service planning activities. Was also a core member of the Planning and Building Standards ICT Project which transformed the Planning and Building Standards services to web-enabled services, the first Authority in Scotland to do so. I was responsible for communications and formed part of the project management team. The project was delivered in line with Prince2.

I undertook a wide range of activities across the planning spectrum, including master planning, historic buildings applications, and mainstream development control.

Assisted in leading and developed the charity’s business planning, chaired six-weekly cycle of meetings, provided management oversight to staff team, two successful national lottery bids, finalised the transition from organisation status to charitable company limited by guarantee. Volunteered on ‘bothy venture’ programme.
