GENERAL PURPOSE To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.REPORTS TO: Director of ESSAMAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES•provide academic support to students in high school course work, including advanced level courses•advocates for the rights of homeless students and families within East High School•collaborates… Show more GENERAL PURPOSE To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.REPORTS TO: Director of ESSAMAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES•provide academic support to students in high school course work, including advanced level courses•advocates for the rights of homeless students and families within East High School•collaborates with school staff - including social workers, school counselors, psychologist, administrators, and teachers to meet the needs of the homeless students•provides and/or coordinates academic support to students of greatest need and experiencing homelessness in non-Title I schools as required by the Elementary & Secondary Education Act•works collaboratively with school social workers to communicate selection and service delivery information to parents •implement individual academic support plans that will include monitoring, collaborating with teaching staff, and providing indirect or direct academic service•communicate student progress to teachers and/or parents at regular intervals while maintaining the McKinney-Vento confidentiality requirements•participate in targeted professional learning as directed by the director of ESSA•complete all paperwork related to the McKinney-Vento Homeless program, in accordance with federal and state regulations•participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations•participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings Show less
