Oversee the fiscal management of the organization including grant writing, accounting, financial policies, and yearly budget. Spearheaded the development and execution of a strategic plan that launched three key initiatives: the Saticoy Farmers Market, Saticoy Community Fridge, and Saticoy Sowers. These programs aim to build a cooperative, decentralized food system designed by and for the community, addressing food apartheid, racial inequity, and food and environmental injustice. Fostered and maintained partnerships with government agencies, educational institutions, community organizations, and food producers to advance social justice efforts in Ventura County.

I am co-owner of a food venture focused on creating diversity in the food landscape. We started out in Iowa specializing in Mexican-Filipino pan dulces (sweet bread) and grew to offer culturally-relevant produce. We will continue our mission in Ventura, CA with our Decolonized Urban Farm. We believe in our mantra, “Thoughtful foods, empowered people, and heartfelt connections.”

I worked with a diverse community of refugees from the Cedar Valley. I coordinated an education pipeline for 600 K-12 refugee youth to help in literacy skills, cultural competency, and workforce development. This was achieved through staff and partner development while increasing funding through grant management.

Through community engagement efforts, I have increased access to healthy foods for marginalized, rural, and low-income youth in Northeast Iowa. I implemented a cookbook pantry where clients receive free cookbooks by partnering with the Cedar Valley Readers and Goodwill. I was the Interim Culinary Programs Manager which provided on 250-380 meals daily to youth. This was accomplished through managing staff and volunteers and coordinating with after school site leads.I initiated and coordinated a collaborative panel on youth in the community with partner organizations. This group leveraged resources and advocated to decrease barriers for youth to access services.

Full service restaurant with a scratch kitchen. I worked with service and kitchen staff to implement new menu items while driving sales through local marketing and customer service.

Responsible for daily restaurant operations including: scheduling, catering oversight, inventory, quality control, work relations and morale, customer relations, and plating.

Elected as a representative for Community Colleges. Advocated on behalf of students to all levels of government, appointed to internal and external committees. These committees included topics covering; CalWORKs, Baccalaureate degrees in community colleges, Common Core implementation, and legislative policies. Worked in conjunction with community college partners in drafting and proposing legislation for CalWORKs at community colleges.

Shadowed San Francisco Superior Court Judges and their cases involving child law, harassment court, juvenile justice, and small claims. Had the Honorable Donald S. Mitchell as a specific mentor to facilitate discussions on topics in law

Server and set-up crew member for weddings, golf tournaments, and various other events ranging from 50-500+ people. I would also assume the role of a food-runner and busser for the clubhouse restaurant.

Elected representative for the Associated Students of Ventura College to district and college level governance committees.

Provided meals for residents and set up dining room. Worked in the kitchen when needed and was a housekeeper for residents.
