• Designed an injectable for the extended release of three clinically approved corticosteroids.• Led a project to predict the affinity interactions between small molecules and the formulations using different QSAR methods in the R programming language.• Determined which FDA approved small molecules are more likely to show extended release properties with our formulations.• Designed different bioassays to demonstrate activity and stability of the eluted molecules.• Managed a team of research assistants in cross functional projects.

• Designed strategies for the delivery of small molecules, genes, recombinant proteins and cell therapies. • Identified hits for therapeutic repurposing and repositioning by screening a library of molecules using surface plasmon resonance (BIACORE) and computational molecular docking tools (AutoDock).• Developed different single cell clones of embryonic stem cells and CHO cells by transfecting(Electroporation, Lipofectamine, Polymers, etc.) custom built plasmid vectors with different modalities of gene regulation (e.g. constitutive, tissue specific, inducible, etc.), selection cassettes and GOI cargos.• Developed and employed different bioassays (MTS, Invasion Assays, Matrigel, Cytotoxicity, etc.), biochemical assays (Western Blot, PCR, Zymography, etc.) and microscopy imaging methods(FACS, ImageJ, Matlab) to test the activity and stability of different molecular hits and cell lines.• Validated the resulting candidates in relevant in vitro assays and animal models for multiple preclinical applications.• Awarded the Medtronic Scholarship.

• Implemented the detection of recombinant protein production in a bacterial bioreactor using an on-line near infrared (NIR) probe.• Cross-corroborated the results from the NIR probe instrument by Western Blot.

• Investigated the effects of varying the concentration of sodium chloride and triclosan in the bacterial biodiversity of an upflow anaerobic bioreactor using fluorescence in situ hybridization, gas chromatography and solids content analysis.

• Optimized the bonding properties of a microfluidic device by PDMS contact adhesion in porous etched wafers. • Analyzed the effect of using different extracellular matrix protein concentrations in the attachment efficiency of breast cancer cells.

• Applied statistical process control theory to analyze the production process of different recombinant protein products.• Tracked a large time series dataset from the manufacturing line which resulted in improvements in the quality workflow.
