Manager, Financial Accounting
CurrentMetro Trains Melbourne is a part owned subsidiary of Hong Kong based company MTR (Mass Transit Railway) that looks after Melbourne Metro Trains Network employing more than 7,000 employees.Reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance, and management of 11 staff in finance team.- Managing the monthly management reporting packs - Collaborate with district’s managers to develop budgets and forecasts by providing insights into the financial implications of their plans and decisions. - Lead the preparation of financial analysis, including variance explanations and bridging reports, and present findings to management during the budget review process.- Overseeing the preparation of reports, financial documents, and statutory accounts- Preparing accounting position papers for the Risk Management and Audit Committee.- Managing the group month-end close and consolidation processes- Manage corporate tax compliance by ensuring accurate and timely filing of all tax returns (corporate income tax, BAS, Payroll tax, PAYG withholding, FBT etc.), while staying up to date with evolving tax regulations and industry standards.- Manage accounts payable department (7 staff) and accounts receivables department (2 staff) - Month end accounts and reporting on balance sheet and cash flow.- Manage and review balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset register.- Managing lease accounting aligned with AASB 16 - Leasing- Managing interim and year end audit queries - First point of contact for all taxes and financial accounting matters including relevant accounting standards.- Contributing as required to the successful delivery of finance improvement initiatives across the business including providing relevant subject matter expertise.
