Responsible for the timely and accurate commissioning of main propulsion and supporting systems of mega yacht M/Y Yas, constructed by Abu Dhabi Mar shipyard in the UAE. Yas is the 6th largest private yacht in the world and her sleek lines (based on the hull of an ex Dutch navy frigate) ensure a top speed of more than 25 knots.Installed power consists of two MTU 20V8000 units delivering 16400 kW of power through reduction gearboxes and controllable pitch propellers.Responsibilities include:- Conducting II's and accepting systems from production- Carrying out full set to work of Main engine, gearbox, lube oil, cooling water and shaftline equipment- Developing HAT and SAT documentation and presenting to classification society (DNV GL)- Ensuring acceptance of key systems by the shipyard client- Performing optimization of propulsion plant during sea trials

Engineering Superintendent responsible for providing technical advice and assistance to all ships in use throughout the Royal New Zealand Navy. Key roles involve:- Certified inspector of all propulsion and power generation diesel engines- Provider of 'fly-away' engineering support to ships in support of operational defects- Responsible for providing failure analysis and technical investigations- Provider of on-job training and maintaining safe working engineering standards throughout the fleet- Commissioning and conducting installation inspections (II's) on all new and modified equipment- Maintaining close liaison with OEMs and technical repair agencies

Chief Marine Engineering Technician responsible for providing maintenance and safe operation of all propulsion and auxilliary systems of seagoing vessels. Roles were numerous but included:- Performing the role of Chief Engineer onboard naval vessels- Maintaining the safe working environment for ships crew- Providing maintenance planning and operating the onboard CMMS- Ensuring the availability of important fixed ships machinery in support of operational requirements- Providing leadership and continued personal development to junior engineers in my charge- Maintaining fuel, ballast and stability requirements of the vessel
