- Wrote simulation software for the dielectric scattering theory implementation of inelastic electron scattering. Used that software to first describe my experimental results about the interaction of collective excitations of massless electrons in graphene with phonons.- Designed and commissioned a Kelvin probe for work function measurements on surfaces- Performed and evaluated density functional theory simulations of carbon nanotubes using VASP- Investigated the surface properties of nano-crystalline diamond films with atomic force microscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy and inelastic electron scattering- Performed inelastic electron scattering and photoelectron spectroscopy on molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) grown GaN and InN surfaces to extract the phonon-plasmon coupling and band bending- Studied the absorption of small molecules on the single crystalline Ni(111) surface

Commissioned and repaired a Scanning Tunneling Microscope (STM) and Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES) machine. Investigated single and few layer graphene grown on poly-crystalline nickel for quality hallmarks with STM and PES before and after transfer from the growth substrate to arbitrary other substrates.
