I was born with two elbows, but only one wrist and five fingers. Sometimes something as simple as tying my shoes takes a bit of creativity and extra effort. I find that same structure working in Technology, where what seems simple turns complex. My approach is to keep a cool head and to focus on what gets us moving forward, whether it be mathematical puzzles or challenging interpersonal dynamics. DEI adds more layers to this still: we are not actually at the finish line unless our underrepresented colleagues are there with us. I love work when I can forge new connections, when I am able to push myself, and when I am able to find new tools to best leverage who and what is around me.
