Service launch planned early 2013.Outcome: Delivered first, global solution to interconnect “Any Web Application to any Mobile Operator,” monetizing an Operator’s network capabilities as Web APIs. New revenue stream to exceed $100 Million/year. Launched world’s first service as sole provider to GSM Association in 2010, “OneAPI.”Outcome: Identified opportunity and led design of service delivering 90% reduction in inter-carrier mobile voice, with market opportunity of $100 Million per year.

Responsible for product definition, platform selection, and strategy for wireless products. Identified and created mobile industry solutions, as Chair of GSM Association MMS Working Group (and representative to other Working Groups) and representative to CDMA Development Group (CDG), with focus on carrier revenue growth by enabling seamless, inter-carrier operation of new carrier services (SMS, MMS, PTT, WLAN Roaming, Wireless IM, etc.).Outcome: Led in design and creation of new, Inter-Carrier Messaging products (SMS, MMS) that generated revenue of over $250 Million/year. Outcome: 70% cost reduction realized in design of common platform for 3G and 4G data roaming. Planned, negotiated, and delivered new data roaming services for GSM (GRX) and CDMA carriers (CRX).Outcome: Planned and delivered 3G data roaming solutions for GSM and CDMA Mobile Network Operators.Outcome: Significantly boosted earnings by focusing investment in new data services, messaging and content delivery, as part of corporate strategic planning effort. Effort culminated in several acquisitions that increased revenue more than $400 Million/year.

Led wireless planning network evolution over 1-3 year window, including migration to 3rd Generation cellular networks, VoIP, Core IP, and Wireless Internet. Developed 3-year network architecture plan, including applications of VoIP and IP transport. Drafted RFP for Location-Based Services. Outcome: 60% reduction in capital and operational cost of switching network available from use of wireless softswitch. Outcome: 25% decrease in ongoing capital and operational cost from selected network efficiency projects (MSC, STP, SCP, HLR, and Metrics). Evaluated sharing network resources among Wireline/Wireless/Internet/Long Distance.Outcome: 80% reduction in incremental cost of packet data service (vs. cost of market share leader) in selection of Mobile IP subsystem components. Led RFP analysis team in evaluation and selection of PDSN and associated components.Outcome: 60% reduction in cost of radio subsystem as a result of open architecture enabling competition separately in switching and radio subsystems. CDMA Development Group (CDG) awarded U S WEST Wireless the CDMA Industry Achievement Award for “Infrastructure Product Innovation” at the World Congress in Hong Kong (June 13, 2000) for design of innovative Open Architecture and market deployment of mixed MSC-BSC network.

Led design and deployment of an open architecture for PCS, including industry-first deployment of IS-634 allowing separate vendors for CDMA radio (Base Station Subsystem, BSS) and switching (MSC). Successfully managed intervendor issues.Outcome: Delivered industry-leading ability to mix and match CDMA radio and switching components, resulting in savings on both components. Delivered on schedule, with full functionality. Honored with “President’s Club Award” for outstanding performance, as recognized by peers and management (3/2000).Outcome: Launched Wireless Internet service, “BrowseNow,” offering seamless access to customer data and e-mail via wireless or Internet access–industry first.Led team to develop a pre-standard product and protocol definition for SS7 signaling over TCP/IP, including functional requirements defining a Gateway to enable IP devices to complement Intelligent Networks (SS7:IP Gateway STP).Outcome: Delivered design of breakthrough architecture to support signaling, data, and operations traffic over a IP network, resulting in significant savings.
