- Built Engineering department from scratch to support lifetime warranty on all Xikar products. Designed and installed warranty defect tracking Access database and terminals. Leveraged quality findings to partner with factories to institute inspection protocols overseen by Xikar Asia engineer and inspection team. Warranty expenses reduced by 22% in first 24 months and 30% from 2012 to 2017. - Chief researcher investigating state-of-the-art in cigar accessories including lighters and cutters. Developed best practices for Quality Engineering and integrated these practices into the Design department priorities.- Invented industry-groundbreaking Xikar XO cigar cutter. Utility and Design Patents granted or pending in 3 countries. 3.5 years in design and development. - Oversaw overhaul of product development processes to include Long Range Product Development Plans, Gannt charting to detail development roadmap and activities, and coordinated execution communications between Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Design and Engineering functions to streamline and fortify development activities.- Responsible for Patent and Tooling Expenditure budgets. Primary contact with Intellectual Property attorneys for patent and trademark matters.

Mechanical designer for primarily marine products (i.e. chartplotters, handhelds, radar, accessories). Product testing prior to mass production.- Collaborated with Industrial Designers and Electrical and Production Engineers to develop market-leading products while ensuring ease of manufacture. Portfolio of products includes: GPSMAP 6000/7000 chartplotters, echo fishfinders, GMR 18 radar, GHP 10 autopilot compass, wireless marine mouse, Nissan Pathfinder/Frontier nuvi 700 mount, and Alpha 100 handheld.- Responsible for selection and qualification of mechanical components including die-cast and sheet metal parts, rubber and plastic molded parts, displays, switches, batteries, cables, etc.- Responsible for configuration and installation of SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM software packages for Mechanical Engineering personnel at all Garmin locations worldwide.

Honeywell FM&T manages and operates the Kansas City National Security Campus for the U.S. Department of Energy. The facility supports the National Nuclear Security Administration's efforts to maintain the United States' nuclear weapons stockpile along with other national security needs. My primary role as Product Engineer was to communicate with Design Engineers from the National Laboratories regarding component development and production. I specialized in complex component design while maximizing manufacturability. My responsibilities expanded to include project management, reporting to government agencies on allocation of special project funding.- Provided management oversight of approximately 20 individual projects with combined budget of over $2.5m annually.- Reported status and progress toward milestones to National Nuclear Security Administration officialsand military branches.- Oversaw design and fabrication of development and production tooling and gages.- Reviewed designs for completeness and accuracy relative to business drafting standards and ASME Y14.5M.- Granted and maintained Department of Energy Q-level security clearance.
