Development and maintenance of Hardware Resource Information and DASD. Worked with 2 OS component teams to deliver “just in time” hardware support. This allowed flexibility with personnel headcount management between 2 OS components.• Delivered new Input/Output Adapters (IOA) and DASD hardware support to OS.• Implemented OOD generic DASD objects to speed delivery of support to customer. Decreased development overhead by 25%.• Addressed and resolved customer’s concern regarding downtime for failing IOA’s and need for new support of HA (High Availability) SSD (Solid State Drives) technology in a DASD complex, which resulted in a decrease in downtime and an increase of customer satisfaction.

Supplied lab enablement and support for IBM i OS Blades and BCH/BCS Blade Centers. Worked with 3 site locations to coordinate development of this new support. Accepted temporary assignment to deliver IBM i OS education. In addition, performed general overall problem analysis and resolution of IBM i OS defects.• Acquired new hardware and specifications and performed acceptance tests. This eliminated hardware burn-in time for each supporting component. Thus decreasing product delivery time to customer.• Performed new hardware testing on tape, internal and external storage subsystems, blade I/O modules and daughter cards. This reduced occurrences of defect re-discovery, thus decreased product delivery time and allowed for smooth integration of blade servers into the customer environment.• Disseminated and supported the hardware and procedural knowledge throughout IBM’s multi-site labs. Blade related problem analysis, management, and resolution was a key part of this job assignment. This activity allowed for 3 generations of Blade technology and 2 Blade Center platforms to be released within a 2 year period.• Received IBM’s Large User Group (LUG) award for delivering these products per requirements.

Developed DASD device drivers for internal DASD and external disk storage subsystems. Implementations included multi-path support for HA capable IOA’s as well as continuing support for performance data collection for external disk storage subsystems. OOD methodologies and the C++ language were used.• Developed multi-path support which averted the imposed risk of lost connectivity inherent with single data path implementations and thereby maintained and increased customer product satisfaction.• Improved support for larger external disk storage subsystems which allowed our largest configuration customers to understand where to make HA improvements. This effort maintained customer satisfaction in the 96th percentile.

Project manager for IBM Power Hypervisor (PHYP). Performed product Problem Management, Integration, Build, and Test. Performed defect categorization, tracking, and daily status presentations of PHYP problems. Represented PHYP team in code integration and weekly build status meetings. Team leader for Guadalajara Mexico PHYP Firmware Compatibility Test team.• Led remote test group through each periodic build cycle and ensured that the test group had appropriate test hardware and procedures for each major release or fix pack• Ensured that the necessary code base plus problems fixed were available in next code deliverable. Allowing other firmware development teams to maintain or exceed planned development progress.• Validated code base to be as good or better then prior code release.

Development manager for 20+ software engineers. Supported and enhanced a suite of service tools. Performed personnel, project, and development management, salary planning and execution, promotion planning and execution, new hire recruitment and hiring. Technical Focal Point for customer defects.• Presented weekly status reports of active customer defects and problem analysis for the IBM i OS SLIC functional area. Improved overall customer situation readiness and maintained or improved customer satisfaction.• Absorbed 3 additional OS components while maintaining same headcount. Improved department performance in defect reductions through department personnel changes and training. This resulted in defects being handle more efficiently, thereby reducing the defect backlog.• Added GUI team and interfacing to service tool environment resulting in improved customer product acceptance.

Developed functional enhancements per each major release.• Developed two new SLIC components, System Monitor and Security.• Enabled other components, with System Monitor component, to perform problem analysis and resolution more efficiently.• Improved system and customer data security with Security component.
