Robert—during a writing career that spans more than three decades—has written and/or edited multiple award-winning magazine features on pioneers in a wide array of fields, from the world of business, sports, arts & entertainment, healthcare, and education.In addition to the magazine work, Robert has written two critically acclaimed nonfiction books:• The Chase for Beauty (4.5/5 stars on Amazon)• A Family Divided (4/5 stars on Amazon) Robert describes his writing style as one that is meant to be engaging, dramatic, and accurate—compelling his audience to excitedly read sentence after sentence to find out what happens next. Although he considers himself a natural-born storyteller, he has spent his career honing his skill to seamlessly weave into stories all of the relevant messaging.

Robert oversaw the design and editorial content of cmtoday.cmu.edu, which replaced the print version of Carnegie Mellon Today. In the site's first year, it received the highest award, Best in Class, in both the magazine and the university categories of the Interactive Media Council’s annual Interactive Media Awards competition. The national awards “recognize the highest standards of excellence in website design and development." Judges come from multiple companies such as The New York Times, Condé Nast Publications, and Time Warner. The council is an international nonprofit organization “dedicated to elevating the standards of excellence on the Internet.” The awards are based on five specific criteria and cmtoday.cmu.edu received a perfect score (100/100) in four of the five (Content; Design; Feature Functionality; Usability) and a 94/100 in Standards Compliance. Carnegie Mellon Today was the university’s award-winning collegiate print magazine, which pursued thought-provoking stories—many of which tackled subjects from current headlines. Befitting a world-class institution, the content was written and designed for a global audience as well as the Carnegie Mellon community, which includes Nobel Laureates; billion-dollar hedge-fund managers; and winners of Pulitzers, Oscars, Tonys, Emmys, and Grammys. The magazine won 121 editorial awards nationally while Robert served as its executive editor. (Beginning at the start of the 2015-16 academic year, the decision was made to turn all energies toward a revamped website and cease the print publication. )

Pitt Magazine is the University of Pittsburgh's quarterly collegiate magazine. During Robert's tenure, its circulation exceeded 100,000 and was an award-winning publication.
