I am a qualified skills trainer and health and safety instructor. I have worked in the medical device sector for thirty years. I am well aware of working in an FDA controlled environment. I have been involved in health and safety at work for many years. I have completed safety audits and changes to working habits to make the workplace safer for employees and employers.While working for several Medical Device companies i.e., Johnson & Johnson and Stryker Orthopaedics I have learned the importance of working to protocols or procedures. I know the importance of completing the job to perfection. The concept of “do it right first time” has stayed with me all through my working life. I have been a trainer for most of my working life. I enjoy training people and showing them new skills. I love the experience of seeing the learners progress and deliver the skills they have learned. I enjoy the newfound confidence they have gained. Whether it is adult learners or young learners the enjoyment is equally as fulfilling.During my working life I have gained some important experiences some from life learning and some from educational training courses. I am a Manual Handling Instructor and a Cardiac First Respond Instructor. I am also a Fire safety Instructor. I was a plumber and a plumbing instructor for many years. This is where I gained the skills for skills training. I carried those skills throughout my working career. They have enabled me to train by using a combination of communication and hands on practical participation. This encouraged me to return to education.During the last year or so I have worked with young adults just completing their education. They have some learning disabilities. I have thought them some very fulfilling training modules which will help them to fulfil their working dream. They have successfully completed QQI courses comprising of Health and Safety, Word Processing, Application of numbers and Money management.
