It was Blue Castle Games when I first joined, but every single encounter with Rob, whether it was just walking by in the hallway or at the coffee machine were always calming and naturally enjoyable. As the years went on, and looking back, I can see why I enjoyed a lot of my time at the studio. His demeanour was infectious and made all of us comfortable. He was the “Boss” but never standoffish and made all of us feel like we could come to him with anything but also freely joke around regularly. That’s a rare thing. There was respect back and forth for sure, but there was never any fear of being honest. Rob created an environment across the studio like that, while simultaneously leading and driving hard development decisions. His background as an “in the trenches” creator made those many years some of my favourite as I could see he was always coming from ground level experience.
