Rob worked in Shell's intellectual property legal team for over 25 years, the last 10 years as Associate General Counsel, where he gained significant international experience in the creation, management and exploitation of IP assets, including through industry and academic collaborations, joint ventures, technology licensing, brand licensing and numerous M&A transactions.Since leaving Shell in early 2014, Rob has set up Inter Partes Limited to offer consultancy in the areas of IP strategy, IP management, the IP aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestments, and the creation and exploitation of all types of IP assets. He also provides IP legal advice to clients through K2 IP Limited, a network of senior IP practitioners, and Cameron Intellectual Property, an IP law firm.

Lead lawyer for the formation of Shell Brands International AG and centralisation of the legal and economic ownership of Shell's non-US trade marks in that company. Provided legal advice in relation to the establishment of SBI's third party licensing business and the development of template trade mark licence agreements, particularly in relation to the operation of Shell-branded retails by non-Shell companies around the world.

During this 6 year expatriate assignment I handled various refinery process licensing transactions and acted as the lead IP counsel to the newly formed Shell Hydrogen and Shell Solar businesses.Towards the end of the assignment I was invited to join the global IP Leadership Team.I also developed and implemented the Group's export control and sanctions compliance programme, and became the Group's subject matter expert on this area of the law.
