About Rob Coleman
Rob Coleman originally joined Industrial Light & Magic in 1993, where he was an animator on a number of films before being promoted to a supervising character animator on Dragonheart (1996) and then Animation Supervisor on Men In Black (1997). Coleman was the Animation Director on the Star Wars prequels, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005). In 2005, he left ILM to join Lucasfilm Animation where he helped set up the Singapore animation team while he directed five episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series (2008-2009). Coleman departed Lucasfilm Animation in 2007 to follow his desire to work on animated features. He was the Animation Director on Happy Feet Two (2011), Peter Rabbit (2018), the Head of Animation on The LEGO Movie (2014) & Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021) and Animation Supervisor on The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). In 2021, Coleman returned to ILM, this time in Sydney, Australia.He has been nominated for two Academy Awards®, two BAFTAs, three Visual Effects Society Awards and one AACTA Award for his work in visual effects and animation. Coleman is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Australian Academy of Cinema Television Arts and the Visual Effects Society.
