Doctor of engineering and Chartered Energy Engineer with over 20 years experience of sustainability consulting for companies, cities, masterplans, regeneration projects and buildings. Chair of the SouthWest and South Wales region of the Energy Institute, co-supervisor of a PhD with UWE of a systemic approach to defining a regenerative assessment and design methodology for land-change/development. I've supervised numerous PhD and MSc studies, lectured, collaborated and led technical committees with a range of institutions and agencies. I aim to drive new initiatives from cutting-edge research to development of new tools and services relating to improving the Sustainability and resilience of the built environment and organisations; combining research, consultancy and collaborations through projects across the globe in a range of contexts. Through a combination of global project work and research, I provide strategic sustainability thinking and guidance through to design advice for pushing typical boundaries. This has involved working throughout the design and construction process for projects of all scales, including auditing existing buildings, reviewing company-wide operations, individual building design and masterplanning new developments and eco-cities. Since completing an Engineering Doctorate that focused on understanding and overcoming the barriers to the integration of alternative energy technologies in the built environment, I have initiated and supervised further research into using waste as a resource, geothermal energy, alternative water technologies, natural materials, wellbeing, environmental footprinting and decision theory. This research focus is backed up with practical experience of informing project sustainability assessments and the selection of technologies or strategies through best practice knowledge and holistic thinking. Many of theprojects I have assisted have been recognised with international awards for sustainability and I was awarded the Cooper-Hill Memorial Medal in 2019 by the ICE, Middle East Engineer of the year in 2013 and Middle East MEP Engineer of the year in 2012.Rob is also an active sportsman and is Mens Club-captain of the Bath Buccaneers Hockey Club.
