In 2009, I built a recording studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn 🎙️🍕.It changed my life forever. Here’s how 👉Timing is everything ⏰✨.I built that studio alongside a genius - Tom Camuso. In the 90s, when Pro Tools was new, Tom was THE GUY to install it in every major studio in NYC. He’s worked with more legends than I can count and has a couple of Grammys to boot🏆🎶. I met Tom when I was 25 and he recorded my band’s first album. One day he called me to come help him move some rocks at his new studio 🤷🪨.Tom taught me everything he knows - I mean, a lot of what he knows - all right, some of what he knows - which is still more than most 🤷‍♂️💡. Together, we launched Brooklyn Post—an audio-first post-production studio where we worked on projects for Nike, PayPal, JetBlue, Samsung, MTV, and many others 🎬🎹.Fortunately, on one project, I met the founders of the boutique travel blog Fathom Away. Because I asked very nicely, and they are very lovely, they began hiring me to travel the world making short films, writing stories, and taking photographs 🛫🌍.In 2016, Dean & DeLuca noticed my work with Fathom and hired me to direct their Eden Eats video series and co-produce their acclaimed Prince Street podcast. For 3 years, I immersed myself in podcast and video production, working on segments with icons Anthony Bourdain, Jamie Oliver, John Malkovich, Scarlett Johannson, and many others. It was an education in storytelling 🎥🍽️.The host of Prince Street? Howie Kahn— another genius who would change my life when we, along with Casey Kahn, co-founded FreeTime Media 🎧💡.With Howie’s award-winning expertise in writing and hosting, Casey’s decade-plus career in public relations and marketing, and my 20+ years of experience with all things audio and video, we knew we could help companies, creators, and experts amplify their brand and elevate their culture through exceptional storytelling 📢📈. And that’s what we’ve been doing since 2019 for brands like Nike, Morgan Stanley, St. Regis Hotels and Resorts, and a dozen other clients ✨🎯.The arc of a career (and a life) is interesting. Moving rocks out of a concrete room in Brooklyn led to 15 years of producing content for the biggest brands and celebrities, all over the world 🛠️🌍.One domino hits the next. I planned none of it and backed into almost all of it with dumb luck and good timing 🍀⏳. And maybe all that unintentional luck and timing will lead me to working with you on your next project.
