About Rob Gersch
I am a motivated and enthusiastic senior researcher who has supervised the laboratories of several cardiothoracic, plastic, and veterinarian surgeons at state and Ivy League universities. I conducted translational research in stem cell and regenerative medicine to alleviate tissue damage caused by osteoarthritis, myocardial infarction, burns, scarring, and chronic wounds. Thus far, I’ve mentored over 30 undergraduate, graduate, and medical students as well as technicians, surgical residents, and post doctorate fellows. Of my current publications, 8 were in collaboration with mentees I have supervised and 2 (Gersch et. al. 2012 & Klein et. al. 2016) represent cross disciplinary research conducted as part of a matrixed team. I am adept at tissue culture techniques, immuno, and molecular assays and have overseen projects from conception to manuscript publication and grant submission. I served as radiation and laboratory safety officer as well as managed IACUC, IRB, and IBC creation, submission, and renewal at multiple institutions. My work has been presented at national and international scientific conferences and I’ve accepted invitations to lecture in a variety of settings from middle school classes to Ivy League graduate courses. As a tenacious and meticulous scientist, I am adaptable to new research fields and techniques and work well both independently and in collaborative team settings.
Listed skills include Tissue Culture, Western Blotting, Immunoassays, Small Animal Models, and 21 others.
