This position directly provides forestry expertise and other real property technical support to keep BPA’s high voltage lines free of danger trees and beam paths clear. This position involves extensive travel, up to 75% out of town throughout the service area in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, California and Wyoming.Responsibilities include: • Manage inventory of BPA fee owned timber and timber stands.• Collect forestry related data, such as diameter, height, percent defect, form factor, disease, root rot, logging, yarding, and hauling costs, to determine tree and stand volumes, etc. for construction projects.• Perform onsite inspection and oversight of timber and brush removal activity.• Assist with management of Timber Studies and clearing activities.• Assist in marketing timber resources cleared from rights-of-ways or on U.S. Government property.• Draft scopes of work, statements of work and technical specifications for forestry-related projects.• Work on teams including design and/or planning engineers, project managers, managers, environmental consultants, appraisers, realty specialists, title representatives, land representatives to develop the work products, such as a timber appraisals, that are reflective of the project scope.• Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate their work products, such as timber appraisals and resolve issues. • Prepare land rights and access road work product, such as a timber appraisal, for use by land acquisition personnel or management for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work.• Assess and track costs relative to bids and budgets as projects unfold and report project completion and close-out.• Provide Mapping and Survey with data collection support as needed.• Develop and execute disposition plans for non-strategic land.• Timberland seller outreach and acquisition.
