Connect Consulting Australia was a company formed with a group of colleagues to service the mining and industrial sectors by providing strategic advice, studies and detail design services to mining companies and contractors Our particular expertise in management and execution of multidiscipline studies and engineering design across a broad base, with particular technical expertise in hoisting systems and materials handling on the surface and underground as well as in water and mineral sands. Our clients included BHP, Newcrest, Oz Minerals, Anglo American and BBE.Workload decreased during the last few COVID effected years and I am in the process of winding up the company and now looking for part time / casual work

Perth/Santiago De Chile/Adelaide (Current)

After joining SKM had a number of roles from purely technical (particularly in materials handling on surface and underground in hard-rock mining, including cave mining), to project management, engineering design management and study management (clients have included BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Newcrest, Xstrata, Codelco in Chile), client manager for asset management work, project services manager, design of project management systems, office establishment and operations management. Now have PM and Technical Director role with Jacobs.

Perth, Australia

Worked on diverse projects in various roles including studies, design, procurement and contruction associated with hoisting and underground materials handling systems (including shaft inspections and plant audits, including Ghana), mechanical design, including cathodic protection of offshore substructures associated with upending, piling and hookup. Also design and construction of white end of alumina plants (calcination).

Port Hedland

Started as project engineer working in operations group responsible for rotary dumpimg, crushing and screening, conveying and stackout. Carried out relieving foreman and supervisor roles.

Adelaide

Worked in design office and other areas of operaration of a (then) heavy engineering firm manufacturing large forgings and castings, boilers and heat exchangers, cranes, hoists, large gearboxes, presses and conveyors. Experience gained in drafting, structural design, estimating, pressure vessel design and site construction.
