As National Business Development Manager, I was responsible for developing and growing the Xypex Australia business by providing strategic direction and leadership to all of the Australian business units.

As Business Development Manager, I was responsible for leading and growing the Xypex business in NSW by providing value propositions and solutions for delivering improved durability in civil and commercial concrete infrastructure. Solutions using Xypex crystalline technology can be applied to new and existing concrete structures and lead to both an extension of service life and a reduction in the total life cycle cost of those structures through reduced maintenance and remediation costs.

Planning my next career move following my role as Regional General Manager with Humes being made redundant on 31st October 2014. This was part of a significant business re-structure to deliver deep cost-cutting measures within the Holcim Australia business due to declining markets and forecasts across Australia.

Holcim Australia is a market leader in providing solutions to the civil engineering, building and construction market sectors. As Regional General Manager, I had full P&L responsibility for the Humes business in NSW. The business's annual turnover is $60M. This leadership role was responsible for the management of all sales & marketing, operational, commercial and functional activities in the Region and the development of an executive strategy and business plans to drive growth and deliver performance. Ensuring the delivery of value to clients and customers was a key responsibility of the role. The business comprises three manufacturing factories, five sales offices and one depot across NSW.

Humes is Holcim Australia's precast concrete solution provider to the civil engineering, building and construction industries. As Cell or Business Manager, I was responsible for the P&L performance of the Humes business in SNSW & ACT (Port Macquarie to VIC border) which had an annual revenue of $30M. This leadership role was responsible for the management of all sales & marketing, operational, commercial and functional activities in the business and ensuring alignment of those activities to the national and local strategic plans. My personal safety leadership style drove system compliance improvement and safety incident reduction. The SNSW business comprised two manufacturing factories, three sales offices and two depots.

I was seconded from my Operations Manager role to project manage a Humes Logistics safety improvement project. Responsibilities included liaison, consultation and negotiation with Road Authorities and Transport Consultants, presentation and reporting project updates to internal and external stakeholders and delivery of a solution for safe and continuous concrete pipe transportation. I was able to build excellent relationships with RMS key stakeholders resulting in the issue of concession permits under the NHVR OSOM Regulations.

Humes is Holcim Australia's precast concrete solution provider to the civil engineering and construction industries. As Operations Manager, I was responsible for the management of all operational activities at the Blacktown Factory. I implemented key initiatives to improve safety, reduce manufacturing cost and improve customer satisfaction through product and service quality.

Factory management of the largest precast concrete factory in the UK with full responsibility for operational performance including delivery of projects, safety, quality, purchasing, planning and cost control through day-to-day management of 250 strong workforce across ten manufacturing areas. The wide product portfolio serviced the civil engineering, building, agricultural, rail and architectural market sectors. Interaction with clients, specifiers and architects was a critical aspect of the role in order to fully understand their needs, discuss value solutions and ultimately deliver on their expectations.
