I sold the Direct Group business to Borg Manufacturing pre COVID back in February 2020, and retired at the ripe old age of 50. However at the start of 2023 I began a new venture simply called Australian Biomass Pty Ltd. That business provides a national biomass hub sourcing and selling logs, woodchip, sawdust, shavings, rice hulls, bark, nutshells and any other forms of biomass, be it for renewable fuel, organic mulches, animal bedding or anything else.For Direct Group I was the Managing Director and primary shareholder of what was a diverse renewables focused recycling entity. Making top quality recycled wood chip for particleboard, biomass power plants (Direct BioFuel) for local markets, and for export in sea containers. We also made premium finely hammer milled and vacuum screened softwood animal bedding (Direct BioBedding) that was comfy, economical, environmentally friendly, supplying the poultry, racehorse, dairy and other industries. We also supplied new and fully recycled re-usable pallets in both timber and plastic (Direct Pallets) in many and varied sizes, including local and export pallets, pallet sized cardboard cartons, and timber gluts and dunnage. A major focus though was the shredding and recycling of waste pallets and timber on a large scale, plus the collection and recycling of industrially generated scrap metal via large skips and hooklift bins placed at commercial premises (Direct Metals)....I’m happily married to my lovely wife Kim (that's her sharing the picture - at our previous regular marquee at Bong Bong Picnic Races - that year in 1880's inspired fashion !). We lived in Bowral (Burradoo actually, as they say...) in the gorgeous Southern Highlands of NSW for many years, but now enjoy semi-retired life on the beautiful and much warmer central coast of NSW.Two wonderful adult children (Carly and Mitchell). Carly going gang busters as a lawyer with the Australian Government, and Mitch championing his own way in recycling.Inspired over the years by my wife Kim, by my wonderful parents (Mick and Carol) and by my fantastic and talented two brothers (Garry and Greg) and their respective families.Co-owner of Grace a gorgeous golden standard poodle.I enjoy time with my wife, family and good friends, playing with my dog, swimming, boating, golf, holidays, travel, being inventive, growing the new business, good conversation, eating lobbies and mud crab, cooking lobster mornay, enjoying the odd wine or good scotch, gardening, YouTubing, googling, and generally just relaxing gorgeous with my wonderful wife at our beautiful home.
