Rob, a Director in the Planning and Environment Group at Walker Morris Solicitors, has 13 years of post qualification experience, qualifying at Walker Morris in 2002. The Planning and Environment Group were recognised by Planning Magazine in the 2011/12 survey as one of the top rated planning law firms in the country. The team are one of the largest Planning teams in the region, and undertake a considerable volume and range of work, renowned as leaders in their field in Chambers UK 2012 and part of The Legal 500 2011 Edition. Rob is often involved in project managing substantial housing and mixed use planning application projects including their promotion through the LDF process. Diverse successes in pursuing planning scheme projects at application stage include gaining planning permission for a large scale motor auction business. He also works with consultants on technical areas of evidence. His mainstay is working on the various stages of planning appeals from draft to final version of the evidence and advising on tactics throughout. He then takes on the role of Instructing Solicitor at the Inquiry session itself. Notable recent achievements include a 250 unit resi scheme in a Conservation Area; out of town retail and mixed use scheme; ongoing work in relation to 1 million sq foot city centre retail development; and a off airport parking facility. Rob also has expertise in reviewing and preparing legal agreements e.g S106 planning obligations and section 278 highways agreements. Robert also has knowledge and expertise relating to Judicial Review Proceedings and has been involved in several. Rob has lead section 247 highway stopping up order applications which have been required for a major retail scheme for international developers as well as less high profile public high diversion orders and worked for clients in their response to CPO and Lands Tribunal work.
