Accomplished IT engineer with a wide spectrum of skills covering business, IT consultancy, management, strategy, systems support & software development. Started my career in the 80s as games programmer, software development manager and IT systems support in a variety of small games company writing games in low-level assembler and C. After a stint as senior producer at Sony Psygnosis, it was time to move sideways as a contractor working for AstraZeneca pharmaceuticals working closely in the marketing side of the business. This role lead me into the most successful part of my career - IT manager at InforMed Direct based in Macclesfield. InforMed was a well-funded, ground-zero start-up in the medical information services sector. There from the start, I was instrumental in building up the business over 14 years to a hugely successful & profitable business sold to United Drug for £11.4m in 2010. InforMed became part of the Ashfield Healthcare Communications business unit and later acquired Watermeadow Medical & Knowledge Point 360.My role in the earlier days of the company was split between software development and IT systems/strategy with the later becoming more prevalent in the later years. Covering the usual Microsoft technologies culminating with the launch of a Windows 2012 Hyper-V based infrastructure over three global sites with Citrix XenApp & Microsoft system centre as core platforms.I left InforMed in October 2015 shortly after the acquisition of Knowledge Point 360 and I'm currently working the plan for a new IT business venture allied to the increasingly buoyant UK brewing and pub industry. Whilst I may have focussed increasingly on the IT strategy, systems & management side at InforMed/Ashfield, I've still kept up my software development skills producing web applications using ASP.NET, VB.NET, C#, JavaScript, CSS, HTML & SQL Server in a volunteer capacity for the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
