Rob is a partner in the Trial Practice Group. He works with his clients to provide commonsense and practical legal advice to successfully resolve ongoing disputes and to prevent future litigation. He represents companies in intellectual property and commercial disputes in the U.S. and abroad, with extensive experience in unfair competition and trade secret misappropriation litigation. He also represents companies in investigations brought by the SEC, DOJ and other governmental enforcement agencies and advises clients on compliance and remedial measures. The Tufts Lawyers Association (TLA) is a nonprofit organization of Tufts alumni in the legal profession. Rob serves on the Board and assists in organizing TLA's efforts in the legal community in the San Francisco Bay Area.

McFetridge American Inn of Court is, as that of the English Inns of Court has been for centuries, to inculcate and cultivate the best qualities of the great trial advocates: honesty, courage, industry, judgment, eloquence, wit and fellowship. It is also to accomplish these things while developing personal relationships with our fellow members and learning new skills and techniques from each other. And it is to do all of these things in an atmosphere of good fellowship that makes the whole process fun.

I practiced complex litigation, including class actions, and government and internal investigations. I handled a diverse array of cases in both federal and state court, representing clients in a number of industries across a wide variety of practice areas, including securities litigation, education, employment, construction, civil rights, consumer class actions, insurance, trademark infringement, trade secrets, false advertising and real estate. I also represented Board committees in internal investigations and before government regulators including the Securities and Exchange Commission and Department of Justice. I was also a member of the firm's Securities Litigation and Corporate Investigations & White Collar Defense teams and Co-Chair of the firm’s Associate Attorney Development Committee.Representative Matters• Obtained a trial victory, which was affirmed by the Delaware Supreme Court, in a $60 million licensing dispute for a Fortune 500 technology company in actions proceeding simultaneously in Delaware and California, including obtaining an injunction against further proceedings in California• Represented a Fortune 500 company in a significant trade secrets case against a competitor, resulting in a favorable settlement• Represented Audit and Special Committees of the Board of Directors in internal investigations, including before the Securities Exchange Commission and Department of Justice and in subsequent class actions and derivative litigation• Represented an executive of a Japanese company in a large-scale Department of Justice antitrust investigation into alleged price fixing• Served as first chair in a victory in an arbitration filed by a client’s former employee• Represented a client in an arbitration involving a royalty dispute regarding software licensing• Obtained a voluntary dismissal of a patent infringement action• Obtained a victory in a securities class action alleging claims of breach of fiduciary duty
