Leading the development of the Dyson Automotive Connected Car solution encompassing: agile process, solution architecture across embedded (car), cloud and mobile, DevOps toolchain and team leadership.Once we were running, I focussed on the cloud architecture. I gained good experience of building a flexible connected car platform on GCP and AWS using a modern stack including: MQTT brokers, Apache Kafka, Hive, Presto, GraphQL, K8s.

Lead Architect for RM Education leading delivery of a huge variety of software including: on-premise enterprise tools, mobile apps, ISP web content filtering and web scale SaaS products. Over the final few years I dedicated a lot of focus to RM Unify, an identity management and access portal for online services. This has over 3 million users across 7000+ organisations worldwide; schools, colleges, local authorities and government departments. Core capabilities of the platform include provisioning of accounts across distributed cloud services and a custom single sign on solution bridging the SAML, WS-* and OAuth2 protocols. Key to the success of the platform is the use of open web APIs to make it easy for third party developers to integrate their web apps, thus growing the ecosystem. I personally developed the elastic-scale, custom provisioning solution for Office 365 and Google GSuite, and a set of public APIs for other cloud services to consume.My contribution to RM's software portfolio has been significant; from the original concepts and business cases through to architecture, delivery and operation of live services. My role as Lead Architect involves being the technical representative in any engagement with the large stakeholders – typically government level and key partners - delivering bids/RFPs and briefings once into delivery. In 2013, I led the adoption of (public) cloud native strategy at RM. This quickly became the default hosting approach for new services, building in-house capabilities to develop and operate services at true web scale (multi-million users).

Regional and national scale public sector projects centering around a SaaS delivered, SharePoint based Learning Platform product serving 5 million users across 4 data centres; at the time the world's second largest SharePoint deployment. My role primarily covered identity management, solution architecture and integration with third party service providers. Technologies used include .NET, federated identity toolsets, BizTalk Server, Windows Azure and web service standards. I was involved in the full lifecycle, from pre-sales architecture and customer facing engagement, through to high level design and leading development teams. My role also covered non-project work, such as R&D into new technologies, and presenting proof of concepts to the development group. The technical roadmap for a number of smaller products also fell under my remit, as did the key buy-vs-build decisions. In addition, I performed an intra-company consultancy role for Identity Management, BizTalk and Windows Azure, and driving cross-company improvements through the RM Development Standards Board.

The Systems Interoperability Framework (SIF) data standard is used in schools, colleges and governments across the UK, US and Australia. The SIF Association (now "A4L") is a community organisation made up of government departments, software vendors and end users, and has a responsibility to drive the development and adoption of the standard. Being part of the leadership of SIF requires me to define pragmatic technical solutions and review those of peers; from a scalability, data security and data model perspective. My responsibilities as chair for this important standard include running meetings, representing my vendor organisation, and making sure the data standard is fit for purpose in education, worldwide.

Specialising in B2B, Supply Chain Management and Retail Transaction systems using Oracle 9i, SQL Server, BizTalk Server, and ASP .NET. Whilst working on the development of a new multi-channel retail system, we were enrolled on the Microsoft BizTalk 2004 early adopters programme, giving me a deep understanding of the inner workings of BizTalk server through intensive training with Microsoft.
