Leicestershire TV was a trial business and the the result of years of global research, development and testing along with evolving trends in technology and people behaviour. The concept was simple- a one stop online web portal for Leicestershire to enable people to be inspired, informed and entertained by what the county, its people and organisations can offer. As such, it aimed to help to redefine local and national perceptions of what Leicestershire has to offer in a way that has not been done before. In a very carefully developed site for optimised search and browsing, Leicestershire TV covered:- news, reviews, topical features, events- info on local facilities and services - guides for shopping, entertainment and sport, recreation, business, health etc- stories on local people, celebrities, places, innovations & ideas, events, successes- showcasing local talent (across arts, sports, specialist skills, amusing animals etc)- niche channels for different interest groups Leicestershire TV was a mix of content from a wide range of content providers. Although many channels has more professionally created content, most feature people sharing their life, experiences, ideas and stories with other local people via video. The most liked and viewed content was more easily accessible. We wanted the content across Leicestershire TV to connect peoples’ lives and broaden their understanding of what is going on locally. The site was developed by Channel 2020 for Leicestershire TV Ltd. It was closed at the beginning of 2017 as we did not feel that the concept could be sustainable. However, the learning has been used for many other ambitious projects since.

Together with Channel 2020 Director Louise Smith, Rob set up the company with public sector based communications experts, Lorraine Langham and Tony O'Regan. It was seen as a way of expanding Channel 2020's involvement with public sector organisations. The main achievement during this time was to win the contract to manage the communications department for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. Once the company was well establish Rob and Louise took a more back seat involvement as consultants to the company.
