CyVantage is currently developing training for academic institutions and commercial experts to improve and maintain the operational readiness of tactical response capabilities for a wide spectrum of enterprises. Rooted in Department of Defense methodologies for developing world-class Cyber Aggressors and Defenders, CyVantage focuses on preparing defenders to operate in real-time, complex, and highly stressful environments. The training capabilities are state-of-the-art and capable of supporting a variety of multifaceted problem sets, from denials of service to state-sponsored Advanced Persistent Threats. CyVantage leverages experts with close association with the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Intelligence Community, in addition to cyber experts from across a wide range of industries. The resulting cyber advantage comes from having defenders equally skilled in aggression and defense.CyVantage is currently working with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to improve and adapt the DECIDE Exercise Platform for use by the Energy Sector.CyVantage is also working with DHS and Cyber Apex Solutions on the Cyber Apex Program. Many participants in the Financial Services Sector (FSS) and Energy Sector eco-systems have vulnerabilities but lack necessary resources and need, reliable, cost effective, solution sets. The Cyber Apex Program seeks to understand these risks and to assist the entire FSS by increasing the resources and solutions sets available to the broad base of downstream participants. The DECIDE platform (long in use by SIFMA for the Quantum Dawn exercises) seeks to extend its success into the Energy Sector.CyVantage was founded by Chris Fogle and Rob Schmidt who previously founded Delta Risk LLC. Delta Risk was purchased by Diamond Holdings led by Sec. Michael Chertoff (DHS Ret.) and Gen. Michael Hayden (NSA, CIA, DIA, U.S. Air Force, Ret.).

Mr. Schmidt became a “Founding Member” of CCSA in 2004, at the request of the National Security Council staff at the White House, and continues to aid this organization in achieving goals and objectives that advance the field of “Cyber Conflict Studies” at a strategic level.

FINRA operates the largest dispute resolution forum in the securities industry to assist in the resolution of monetary and business disputes between and among investors, securities firms and individual registered representatives. Mr. Schmidt has been selected as an "Industry Arbitrator" for over 50 arbitration panels.

The Kiernan Group, Inc. is an international consulting firm, established in 2005 to build organizational strategy for addressing homeland and national security requirements. Customers include the Law Enforcement, Defense, and Intelligence communities as well as the private sector and academia. Mr. Schmidt is also an active participant in Kiernan Group's "Furciferi Versuti" which seeks to identify threats, challenges and scenarios which may not be identified by an organizational assessment process with the goal of widening the potential solution aperture.

Intelligent Cyber Research (ICR) is dedicated to advising senior staffs regarding cyber risk metrics. Its products (developed in cooperation with the Eurasia Group) are designed to advance the transparency of cyber threats on a global and country specific basis with a focus on individual institutions operational competency and concerns.ICR was sold to Next Peak LLC in 2020 as part of a private equity placement.

Mr. Schmidt lectured for the Intelligence Analysts Graduate Program on asymmetric risk, critical thinking, money laundering, commodity money, and the problem of tracking asset transfers in the global banking system and third world economies.

Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, General (ret.) Michael Hayden and the Senior leadership of Delta Risk LLC, including the Honorable Michael Chertoff, Mr. George Norcross, Mr. Scott Kaine, Mr. Jeff Schmidt, and Mr. David Leach on product development and corporate governance.

Delta Risk LLC is a global provider of world-class strategic advice, cyber security, and risk management solutions to government and private sector clients. Delta Risk helps clients build cyber defenses and resiliency with approaches specific to the organization encompassing strategy, contingency planning, training, threat awareness, assessments and exercises.

Mr. Schmidt provided Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to the Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) and Miami University of Ohio relevant to the creation of a Finance Sector “Simulation” tool to help risk managers identify the risks associated with globalization that are beyond their normal planning horizon. These activities were in support of the Department of Homeland Security's Directorate of Science and Technology in cooperation with the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome NY. Mr. Schmidt provided expertise to the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council’s (FSSCC) R & D Committee on top-level domain and DNS-Sec issues. Mr. Schmidt provided SME and developed the high level Red Team Scenario for Dartmouth College's (Institute for Security Technology Studies) "Livewire Exercise". Executed in 2003, Livewire was a groundbreaking, maiden, national level cyber exercise for the United States involving fifty organizations from the public and private sectors.

Mr. Schmidt was recognized by FBI Director Robert Mueller in August 2005 for "Exceptional Service in the Public Interest". Mr. Schmidt served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the InfraGard National Members Alliance (INMA) from 2005-2007 and as President of the INMA from 2007-2009. In this capacity Mr. Schmidt led the operational side of the private sector involvement with the FBI’s “Public-Private” InfraGard program. The INMA and its 86 InfraGard Member Alliances (IMAs) are dedicated to CIP and the development of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across a wide spectrum of enterprises. InfraGard currently has 50,000 SMEs nation wide and has begun to assess a worldwide strategy. A key element of the program is reconciling public-private collaboration issues.

The Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe), established in 2005, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit international alliance of more than 100 policy leaders, educators, law enforcement members, technology experts, public health experts and advocates dedicated to keeping children safe on-line.

The Council was asked by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to provide thought leadership and solutions that address the challenges facing the nation related to “internal” or domestic threats. Specifically, helping to define Domestic Intelligence needs and the cyber mechanisms necessary to meet those needs.

Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE) Activities: Mr. Schmidt served as Chairman of the SPX Floor Procedures Committee from 1989-1993, and on the: Arbitration Committee, Financial Planning Committee, Business Conduct Committee, Floor Officials Committee. Series 7 Certified.Mr. Schmidt also served as Special Liaison to the Office of the Chairman on Computer Security. In this capacity Mr. Schmidt worked with the National Security Agency (NSA) and several private contractors to develop a coherent strategy for detecting and repelling the systematic breach of CBOE systems.
