I worked within the 24 hour Press Bureau, based at Scotland Yard. I was part of a core team - recently recognised in the 2017 PRCA Awards - working on a 24/7 basis. Part of my job was the position of Duty Officer running shifts for the Met's Department of Media and Communications (DMC). This role was the first port of call for police officers to alert us to issues of media interest and for journalists with breaking national or international queries. Major incidents I have worked on include the London riots, the murder of Lee Rigby, the security around the Olympics and the Royal Wedding, the Westminster and London Bridge terror attacks as well as the Grenfell Tower fire.
