Did I say we are having fun?!Clients include:-US Government: Providing custom software engineering solutions in the cleared space-New Gen: Supporting the IBM Watson implementation for the US Government-US Customs and Border Patrol: ACE project - portal engineer-EyeStreet Software (for FEMA): NFIRS Project - web reporting redesign and implementation-Kajeet.com - web development services and business analytics refinement

Nov 2006 - Present

Chief Business Development Officer

Reston, Va

Business Development, Software EngineeringDuring my tenure, I supported the government doing custom software engineering of both stand-alone rich-client applications as well as dynamic internet applications. Additionally, I worked closely with the leaders in the company as the Chief Business Development Officer in an effort to diversify the business contract interests. In 2012, I was certified as a Hadoop developer by Cloudera. Most recent project work includes being involved in a machine learning project using big data structures.

Dec 2009 - Sep 2013

Principle Software Engineer & Manager

Chantilly, Va

While at General Dynamics, I was on contract supporting the IC community developing RESTful services, providing web solutions and integrating with various storage solutions providing a federated search engine. Responsibilities included managing onsite resources and supporting business development efforts.

Apr 2008 - Dec 2009

Sr. Software Engineer

Eye Street Solutions Llc

Chantilly, Va

While at EyeStreet, I made some really great friends and enjoyed supporting FEMA during a time of great stress (remember hurricane Katrina?). I provided a wide range of Java development engineering services. While supporting FEMA, I worked on NFIRS (the National Fire Incident Reporting System). Experiences include development of (RIA) Web apps, Swing apps, Database Maintenance and general Linux server management. Fundamentally we focused on supporting, migrating and generally upgrading their legacy systems.

Oct 2005 - Dec 2006

Consultant & Sr. Software Engineer

Reston, Va

While at Comsys, I was principally deployed working on a Northrop Grumman engagement for the LInX project (for NCIS). This was a web based application creating a search engine for the Law Enforcement Information Exchange between federal and local municipalities. We ended up creating a normalized data ingest process, an MVC patterned web application and an ontological mapped system for a concept based search engine. As part of this effort, I created the automated base ETL processes over SFTP. Additionally, we integrated an initial LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) Ontological topic modeling based search engine. At the time, we didn't realize how far ahead of the curve we were with the emerging technology stack.

Jan 2005 - Oct 2005

Principle Software Engineer

Reston, Va

While at Quadramed, I truly enjoyed the experience. We created a web based Pharmaceutical checking, Physician Order Entry system (CPOE). Recently I discovered this application is still in production today. This development experience required support from everyone in the company. The experience was rare in that everyone on the team played a role in a positive outcome. I was responsible to playing a key role in seeing this product to market. I led the UI development effort, supported product roll-out, and assisted in marketing efforts. We automated deployment process, documented training materials and provided engineering specs. From soup to nuts, I was involved in it all.

Mar 2002 - Jan 2005

Software Engineer

Fairfax, Va

While at AMS, I worked on Proponix. Proponix was a web based solution that facilitated the automation of handling letters of credit between foreign banking institutions (Bank of Montreal-BMO, Anzed, Barclays). I was involved in integration internationalization of the data formatting and UI integration with back-end services leveraging EJB's (1.0). We worked with domain experts (from multiple continents), graphic artists and engineers. When we started the project, we had no idea how we would provide a solution. Led by some great people, the deliverable schedule was never in doubt.

May 2000 - Mar 2002

Software Engineer

Reston, Va

Early in my career, Quadramed / Compucare brought me in as a junior programmer doing software development using MUMPs (now known as Cache). We supported and created Health Care IT solutions. I supported various order entry systems and nursing/patient management solutions. As Y2K approached, everyone had to support the effort to scrub the millions of lines of code to ensure the date compliance and that no systems would be affected in patient care. During this experience, we had to carry pagers and support the deployed code 24/7. When supporting a hospital after hours remotely, I truly learned what critical meant in terms of bug resolution.

Oct 1998 - May 2000

Multi-Unit Bakery Manager / Operations Support Specialist

Washington D.C. Metro Area

While at Cinnabon, I literally did every job available. Starting out part-time and being promoted up through the ranks to management and eventually supporting the East Coast Region as an Operations Support Specialist. Working for Cinnabon was one of the greatest professional experiences I've ever had. I learned how a business functioned from the ground up. I had to manage a P&L to annual expectations. I opened new businesses in multiple states. I went in and turned around failing businesses. In critical situations, I had to close down failing operations, rehire a staff and provide long term support to get it back on track. While working at Cinnabon, I learned business fundamentals through the school of hard knocks...and I'd do it all over again. It was a blast.
