I am responsible for the IT Hardware and software at our head office in Wolverhampton and in our ever expanding number of branches around the country.

As Network Manager I over see all of the IT on the Admin and Curriculum Networks which equates to around 600 PCs and Laptops. I am responsible for authorising any changes on the server and the network. I manage one technician and together we support all the staff and pupils in and out of the classroom. I am also responsible for the procurement and installation of new equipment, including Laptops, Computers, and SMART boards. I enjoy talking to the many companies and suppliers because of the variety of people and products. We have two HP DL380 G4 servers which combined run 12 virtual servers covering almost every need of the school. We also have a Sharepoint Server, Media Server and Frog VLE Server.

Shropshire IT Support Services (for schools)I was part of a small team supporting all Primary Schools and some Secondary who subscribe to the service. For the majority of my employment I was based on the helpdesk but later I was given schools to look after. I enjoyed being on the helpdesk because I never knew what was going to happen next but I also enjoyed going to schools because I met lots of different people.

ShrewsburyAs the only ICT Technician, I dealt with all IT problems that arose in a school of size and complexity. Reporting directly to the Deputy Head, I was working on my own most of the time, which makes full use of my high levels of motivation and application. I manage the two servers in the school, (Admin and Curriculum), which run Windows Server 2003. All workstations ran Windows 2000. I worked closely with the Shropshire IT Support Services (SITSS), which helped me develop a broader skillset, whilst gaining hands on experience in problem solving.

I worked mainly Part Time at Sainsburys and I worked in a few departments.I started working on the Checkouts which was interesting due to meeting a lot of customers. I then worked a Twilight Shift replenishing shelves. This post was challenging because you had a set amount of work to be done in a four hour shift whilst working around customers. I also spent a short time on the night shift replenishing shelves.

I supported the teacher with IT hardware and software. I also created and updated their website and also assisted an external company in setting up the new wireless network and 20 laptops.
