The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia is a program run by the University of Western Australia and the University of Notre Dame Australia. It's based in a number of towns around WA, including the Pilbara sites where I have worked. The Medical Coordinator role has involved initial setup of sites and ongoing operational management. The core business is medical education - specifically that directed at medical students in the second last year of their training.

As president of the Rural Doctors Association of Western Australia my role involved frequent media interviews, liason with politicians and representation of my state on the board of the national Rural Doctors' Association of Australia. I was also Treasurer of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia for four years.

As chairman of the board of directors my role was to provide leadership, monitor CEO performance and work with other staff members to direct operational activities.

I practiced clinical medicine at the Karratha Medical Centre starting in 2003. I also provided primary care services to the inland Pilbara town of Pannawonica during this period and was the sole doctor providing care during much of this time.Prior to commencing work in the Pilbara I practiced medicine in Melbourne and rural Victoria.
