I manage and coordinate the audio engineering team for the music portfolio at American Public Media and Minnesota Public Radio. ClassicalMPR, The Current, Performance Today, SymphonyCast, Minnesota Opera, The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra - I'm lucky to get to work with all of these folks!In addition I provide broadcast operations support for MPR|APM, its national shows, and distributed content such as the BBC.

I provided hands-on audio services for all of MPR|APM's broadcasts and streams. I engineered live and pre-produced broadcasts, live-to-2 and multitrack music recordings for The Current and Classical services. Knowledgeable of transmission codecs and best practices for content distribution.I was lucky to play a large role in a number of projects: • recording and mixed surround sound videos for the Minnesota Opera, including the Pulitzer prize-winning “Silent Night.”• I improved quality standards for streaming audio and video by researching codecs and best practices for encoding. Acted as liaison between audio and digital media departments.• Coordinated training for DaletPlus, an on-air and production asset management platform, and thus reviewed and improved best practices for audio production and workflow within the MPR news department.• Technical director and responsible for developing the sound of the national show “Wits”

I was the technical director of Studio 4A, NPR’s music recording studio and the central location for large-scale news events including Elections coverage and Toast of the Nation. I planned and executed music mixes for live broadcast, live-to-2 recordings, and multitrack recordings.I was also Technical Director of both Weekend Edition and News Operations.Other duties included field recording, quality control, classical music mastering, news production, on-air show driving, and live remote broadcasts.

I recorded narration, edited, mixed radio spots, restored audio, and created sound design... and had a blast doing so with a wonderful group of colleagues. I also helped interface Protools with an older proprietary post-production system.
