I shaped a robust business governance strategy for the unsecured insurance funding and retailer ‘buy now, pay later’ finance businesses, provided expert opinion to C-level on governance, regulatory and operational matters, and led cross-functional teams across complaints, broker audit, quality assurance, governance, and fraud functions.→ Financial Crime: instituted best-in-class financial crime controls, rolling out new tools, processes and ways of working, including all new onboarding procedures. → Procurement: led group-wide procurement transformation that improved control and visibility of performance and spend, working with project leaders to refine scope and delivery plans, achieving all milestones and benefits.→ New Business Setup: established governance, regulatory and operational framework for new Retail Finance business, facilitating growth into leading provider of omnichannel retail finance and acquisition by Klarna (2018).

I headed governance and controls across insurance operations, asset management, anti-money laundering, fraud and stock audit. → Operating Model: directed review and redesign of operating model for a population of 3,000 FTEs, including active involvement with the industry union and RBS board.→ Financial Crime: led project that transformed financial crime risk management maturity with new systems, tools, policies, processes and behaviours.→ Regulatory Compliance: implemented new regulatory framework, migrating from Office of Fair Trading to Financial Conduct Authority in respect of consumer credit rule books and authorisation. → Conduct Risk: embedded business-wide culture of treating customers fairly, implementing tools for robust customer lifecycle data that highlighted root causes and informed decision-making.

I managed a large sales support function across 25 teams in multiple jurisdictions, processing £2.5BN of transactions per annum with a customer base of SMEs, large corporates and offshore entities.→ Operational Excellence: delivered seven-figure savings and significantly improved ‘Right First Time’ compliance with new operating system, and refined policies and processes, and strong relationships between sales and processing.
