Collected field data using GPS and U.S. Forest Service protocols to assess the condition of meadow and mixed-conifer forest habitat within the 2013 Rim Fire burn area.

Collaborated with team members and project managers to conduct field surveys for the state and federally endangered Blunt-nosed Leopard Lizard in California's San Joaquin Valley. Implemented California Department of Fish and Wildlife protocols to reduce or avoid impacts to Blunt-nosed Leopard Lizards and ensure permit compliance on energy projects.

Collected field data and photographed conditions at illegal off-road vehicles sites on national forest land; mapped 70+ sites using ArcGIS. Monitored development in the wildland-urban interface of California’s Central Coast using aerial images and Google Earth; mapped homes and structures built in high-risk wildfire areas. Assisted with volunteer trail cleanups and taught youths about chaparral flora and fauna in the Los Padres National Forest.

Collaborated with a four-person research team at Vandenberg Air Force Base to study the impact of natural and human-caused noise on biological community structure in coastal scrub habitat. Conducted songbird nest searches, installed wildlife camera traps, set up bird and bat bioacoustics equipment, and completed vegetation surveys at 25+ field sites.

Monitored for special-status wildlife species on construction projects in the San Francisco Bay Area to ensure compliance with environmental permits issued by state and federal regulatory agencies. Documented conditions at project sites and completed daily compliance logs. Coordinated with contractors and provided sensitive species training to construction personnel.

Hopper Mountain National Wildlife Refuge Complex, Ca

Collected field data on critically endangered California Condors in Southern California both independently and alongside staff with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Santa Barbara Zoo. Tracked condors using radio telemetry, conducted condor nest searches, and monitored condors at nests, roosts, and feeding sites to collect data on condor movement and nesting success. Assisted in trapping and handling condors for health checks.

Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Monitored the fall migration of raptor species in the Marin Headlands, CA in collaboration with 250+ volunteers. Conducted daily raptor counts for 19 species with a 10+ person field team; trapped and banded raptors using North American Banding Council protocols. Entered data into a Microsoft Access database and authored blog posts about the raptor monitoring program. Educated park visitors about the natural history of hawks, eagles, and falcons.

San Luis Obispo County, Ca

Conducted nest surveys for Black Oystercatchers, a CDFW Species of Special Concern, using binoculars, spotting scopes, and standardized protocols. Mapped nest sites using GPS and Google Earth. Collaborated with ten volunteers and one environmental scientist at California State Parks. Authored a 20-page report on Black Oystercatcher nesting success for use by Audubon California.
