OUSD (A&S) Industrial Policy

▪ Advise Chief of Staff and Policy Director on Congressional inquiries, correspondence, oversight, and policy matters▪ Prepare Secretary of Commerce and other Departmental officials for Congressional testimony ▪ Manage interagency policy coordination and implementation of Departmental budget, reshoring of key industries, and China accountability policies▪ Advance policy priorities including steel and aluminum tariffs, 2020 Census count, Opportunity Zones, and CARES Act assistance

▪ Conducted outreach to Capitol Hill and organized briefings and meetings with personal offices and Education and Workforce, HELP, Oversight and Government Reform, and Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committees ▪ Advocated successfully for effective opioid controls; mental health parity laws; and apprenticeship and workforce program expansions▪ Led Workforce Group and represented DOL in interagency implementation of EO 13806, Assessing and Strengthening the Manufacturing and Defense Industrial Base▪ Collaborated with Committees, stakeholders, and other Departments to pass effective laws including the Sam Farr and Nick Castle Peace Corps Reform Act (P.L. 115-256) and the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (P.L. 115-271)

▪ Authored bills including H.R. 1316, The Prescription Drug Price Transparency Act and H.R. 907, The Newborn Care Improvement Act▪ Advised Congressman on issues including healthcare, financial services, education and workforce, and oversight and government reform▪ Drafted letters to the White House, CMS, Secretary of State, and other government agencies on various constituent issues ▪ Wrote and edited speeches, Congressional testimony, and vote recommendations for the Congressman

- Selected as one of 16 fellows for Fellowship; chosen to be male Resident Advisor for leadership skills and experience- Delegated house functions and mediated between staff and Fellows; lived in Christian community and attended morning and evening prayer- Took 15 credit hours of theology, philosophy, political theory, history and constitutional law; studied natural law and architecture- Host prominent guests from the Northeast, influential in public policy; organize formal dinners, hosting and maintaining comfortable social dynamics- Attended field studies each Friday, visiting and researching places like Princeton, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg

- Mentored 500+ homeless youth by teaching life and employment skills- Provided 200+ youth employment training in writing resumes and completing job applications- Connected youth with resources in the community to ensure self-reliance after leaving the homeless shelter

- Enforced rules and maintained a safe, open community environment for 100+ undergraduates- Organized monthly events to facilitate community building

- Ran Notre Dame's independent student body newspaper, a 501(c)(3) corporation- Managed 10 member team of editors, publishers, advertisers and webmasters- Oversaw 14-16 editorials, investigative stories, and other articles for each issue- Published bimonthly issues addressing on-campus controversies and events- Received the 2013 Sycamore Trust Student Award for embodying Notre Dame’s Catholic character- Received Collegiate Network 2012-2013 Publication of the Year award, competing with 40+ other publications

- Engaged 200+ children in school-wide assemblies promoting a positive view of Aboriginal culture- Spent 100 hours researching, designing and implementing an evaluative tool for measuring cross-cultural awareness- Created a “reconciliation barometer” with this research to evaluate ICEA’s effectiveness in achieving racial reconciliation
