As the linked data business unit leader, I focus on the growth of the business and the technology for short and long-term objectives. Our team produces direct-to-market products, including OSLC Connect for Jira, Windchill, and Confluence, to address engineering traceability goals for the digital thread. In this role, I am responsible for the product strategy and technology, vendor partnerships, service engagements, and, most importantly, fostering a culture of customer focus. Our team has built leading products in the OSLC Connectivity space, which we are proud to have become critical to our customer enterprises. Our customers are the Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, and Electronics leaders.

As part of our growth strategy, my responsibility was to transition previously OEM technologies to direct-to-customer products. The migration of OEM technology entailed product definition, market and marketing plans, support and support processes, and customer engagement. The initial focus was our Cameo InterOp product, which became our Publisher product line. The second focus was our Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapter for Windchill product, which became our OSLC Connect for Windchill. In this role, I engaged customers, created product and technology roadmaps, and delivered them to the market as SodiusWillert branded products.

I returned to SodiusWillert to lead the United States technical team during a growth phase. At this time, there was a renewed focus on the Rhapsody tooling as well as core Sodius migration technologies. As part of this effort, we added resources for our Rhapsody team, delivered the Willert RXF Framework for embedded products to US customers, and renewed an Automotive focus in Detroit. In addition, I led the development of the technology to migrate from DOORS Classic to DOORS Next Generation using core MDAccess Java libraries and DOORS Next OSLC/REST libraries. I also continued consulting in the Automotive market on IBM ELM and ASPICE-compliant processes.

Buffalo/Niagara, New York Area

As a principal consultant at MethodPark, I focused on enhancing and growing the (technical) outreach in the US market. As a technical resource, I deployed of Method Park Stages to customer sites, process development, consulted/developed process review workflows, and developed customizations to the Stages product. I organized and recruited speakers and participants in the "Talk in the Park" in the local Detroit area to facilitate technology and knowledge exchange over processes and practices. Such events focused on critical needs and experiences around Product Line Engineering, Integration, and Agile processes.

As Director of Solution Delivery, I transitioned teams to IBM Jazz (IBM ELM). My focus was transitioning traditional on-site deployment methods to an IBM Jazz managed service option. In the secondary role, I focused on the usage and scale of adoption, including training, customization, and automation extensions to accelerate product adoption.

As an initial member of the United States staff of a European software vendor, I was responsible for building the local services and technical sales. In this role, I grew the sales activity of our product (MDWorkbench) and aided in the development and the go-to-market for version management add-on to IBM DOORS (BranchManager). In the technical sales role, I completed the largest direct-to-customer licensing deal for Sodius technology. In the consulting role, I built a strong and consistent foundation of Fortune 500 companies that needed guidance, training, and support on IBM Jazz (now IBM ELM) tooling. As a consultant, I performed product deployment, configuration, training, and workflow customization of the IBM ELM tool suite. In addition, I engaged other vendors in the holistic support of customers in their process and tools growth.

As a member of the Software Management Staff, I was responsible for tools and processes for an organization transitioning from (AM/FM) tuner-centric products to software-centric infotainment products. During this period, I led the transition of tooling to the IBM Jazz suite of tools (the first deployment of Jazz in the Automotive domain). The result was enhanced visibility and collaboration in a global multi-site development organization, which led to critical efficiencies. I also led the restructuring of the build and release process to deliver program-level reuse and address the needs of long-term build recreation. In addition to tools and processes, I managed the core audio (tuner, mode controls, and physical media) team, supporting four concurrent customer programs with varying needs and delivery timelines.

As a senior technical team member, I fostered research in software engineering methods internally and externally. I was responsible for communicating the challenges and needs in modern (large volume) vehicle design and the mainstream development of software-based driver assistance systems. As an example of these initiatives, I partnered with GM's Chief Scientist of Canada to build a world-class set of experts working on these challenges to benefit General Motors and the automotive industry. The result was the formulation of the NECSIS (Network for the Engineering of Complex Software-Intensive Systems for Automotive Systems (https://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/ase-oro/Details-Detailles_eng.asp?id=463948)) with funding over $10 million over six years from 2010 to 2016.

As a senior technical team member, our team returned vehicle software development practices to core General Motors responsibilities. On this team, I was responsible for the tooling and methods around modeling, configuration management, and change management. I developed the core modeling structure and guidelines for Product Line Engineering for reusability. I created a novel code generator for translating UML for deeply embedded applications to embedded C code (used in vehicle production programs for 10+ years). I was also responsible for the organization's change and configuration management strategies and tooling.

I worked in the body electronics group on vehicle behaviors. I focused on bringing model-based methods to the engineering organization. In that role, I made critical algorithmic inventions (created and demonstrated in dynamic models and simulation) that introduced the keyless entry and keyless start features in General Motors vehicles, starting with the Cadillac XLR and Chevrolet Corvette.
