National Professional Indemnity Underwriting Manager, Northern Regional Branch ManagerCgu Professional Risks Insurance 2000 - 2002Appointed as National Professional Indemnity Underwriting Manager, following retirement of previous incumbent. -
Northern Regional Manager, Professional RisksCgu Professional Risks Insurance 1996 - 2000Following the termination of the Pacific Indemnity Underwriting Agency joint venture in June 1996, an arrangement was made between Swiss Re (my then employer) and Commercial Union for my employment to transfer from Swiss Re to Commercial Union to continue managing the Northern Region and NSW branches of the remanent of the portfolio following the termination of the joint venture (which entailed QBE and CU splitting the offering of renewals of expiring business of the joint venture). In NSW and NZ, QBE had the exclusive right to offer renewal of expiring business and it was necessary to compete for that business without formally offering renewal. In the following years the NSW branch portfolio was re-built. -
Branch ManagerPacific Indemnity Underwriting Agency P/L 1988 - 1996Pacific Indemnity Underwriting Agency P/L – (PI Underwriting Agency joint venture – the other joint venture partners with Swiss Re were Commercial Union and QBE). Seconded by Australian Re (Swiss Re) – Appointed as Branch Manager to establish a new branch in NSW serving NSW, QLD and NZ. Responsible for establishing and managing the branch – including employing staff, business development, underwriting, etc. Subsequently establishing separate branches in QLD and NZ and taking on the role as Northern Regional Manager (NSW, QLD & NZ) as well as retaining direct responsibility for NSW. During this time Pacific Indemnity acquired Martin Place Agencies – an insurance agency specialising in defamation insurance. This was managed out of the NSW office and supplemented the defamation portfolio that had until then been written by Pacific Indemnity.
