The person hired into this position is responsible for advanced building codes and standards and providing technical assistance to the Florida Building Commission (the Commission). In addition, the position consults with and advises construction and design professionals, local and state governments, appointed boards and councils, and other Interested parties about research needs and projects, standards, product efficiency and other related work.Specific duties include: Consults and gives technical advice to local governments on the technical aspect of the state building codes. Provides engineering technical support to the Building Codes and Standards Section's programs to resolved complex building code issues. Conducts engineering analysis to formulate solutions for complex technical issues and provides technical assistance to the Commission. Provides technical assistance to the Section's Consumer Services Unit, design professional industry and other interested parties on issues related to building codes and standards. Performs technical work to develop research contracts and evaluate research related to building construction codes and standards and product efficiency. Oversees and administers research work projects and contracts related to the development of building codes and standards. Conduct technical engineering research and studies and prepares reports and assists with the development and publication of code related materials.
