My friends know me as the man with the answers. From sports statistics, history and politics to semantics or arcane trivia, friends ask me questions about nearly anything because I usually know the correct answer. I always enjoy the pursuit of knowledge and retain facts gleaned from my love of reading. That is what led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Geography and a Master of Arts degree in Geography. While pursuing my degrees, I learned a lot about the “4 R’s” of graduate school: reading, research, writing, and revision. Throughout my entire educational life, I was able to read quickly while still recalling the information contained. In the process of research, I learned how to find materials from various fields, such as history, geography, political science, and law. I used internet sources, newspapers and periodicals as well as books. The third “R” (actually a W) was writing. Throughout my school career, writing was essential for many courses. My writing was typically grammatically correct, cohesive, polished and fluent. The fourth R, revision, was what I truly learned while writing the thesis to earn my Master’s. Revision was the hardest to learn, but the art of refining each word, sentence, paragraph, and chapter made my writing more concise and precise. In my professional life, I use my abilities to read rapidly and my grammatical knowledge to grade papers quickly and accurately. My managers and team leaders consider me to be very good at my job, since I correctly follow scoring rubrics and meet every daily quota and deadline expected. Now I would like to use these skills, along with my other abilities, to help authors wishing to publish. In fact, I am an aspiring writer currently composing a historical novel of my own!
