About Robert Blackmon
As a manager, my responsibility is always to my team and to see to it that they are up-to-date on existing protocols and nuances in the Network Operations Center. I gave scenarios of what we would do in the event of network degradation on USC’s campus and how we would return customers to service within our Service Level Agreement (SLA) allotted time. I shared responsibility with my team to come up with their solutions to complex network outages that required quick and accurate mitigation to complex problems. As the lead, I am responsible to communicate to the Deputy CIO and other department stakeholders whose colleges are impacted by an application or a set of services that impact learning and the sharing of information. With the knowledge I’ve gained over the years, I am able to use my relationships with technical personnel to engage in resolving issues as they occur in real time thus cutting down on customer frustration and loss of productivity.
