The main part of my role is the development and roll-out of the Nurse Careers Service, across all of University College London Hospitals. Specifically designed for registered nurses of all bands working within the trust. We offer a confidential and supportive space for nurses to focus on and talk through their strengths and what’s important in their own career and working life. We give one to one support tailored to each nurses individual circumstances and need. This could involve guidance in building a meaningful personal development plan, signposting and exploration of other career options and pathways that will contribute to a more fulfilling and long lasting nursing career. This careers service is built on the success of the internal transfer scheme, our flagship service set-up in 2015 helping nursing staff develop their skills and support retention of our nurses within the trust. I facilitate and support nurses to transfer to other roles within the trust, and i also lead in nurse and midwife health and well-being for the trust

After nine months of successfully managing several large recruitment campaigns with various NHS Trusts in England and three large Welsh Health Boards, I was promoted to Team Manager for Project-based nurse recruitment. This allowed me to further develop the team into additional markets where we became the main supplier of EU Paramedics directly into three NHS Ambulance Trusts. With the NMCs introduction of English language testing for EU nurses, I successfully refocused the resourcing team on the recruitment of NMC Registered Nurses. We further extended our client offering in 2018 with the recruitment of nurses looking to register through the NMC international route.

I joined HCL Permanent as Team Leader for the EU Recruitment Projects Team. My main task was the day to day management of a team of 17 recruitment resourcers, and three account managers. Our aims and objectives were focussed on large scale recruitment campaigns for various NHS Trusts, of qualified nurses, mainly from southern and eastern Europe. My role included the remote management of two satellite of teams in Leeds and Pisa in Italy. I also set up and managed a dedicated compliance and support team of four with the responsibility to administer the offered nurses pre-employment checks in line with NHS Employers standards. This led to the development of our employer after-care offering which included meeting new starters at the airport and local orientation and settlement support.

After successfully working on permanent EU nursing recruitment for a year, I took the opportunity to be the team leader for the temporary teams focusing on the social care and teaching sectors. This included sourcing, screening and interviewing social workers, teachers, support workers and teaching assistants. I was responsible for all aspects of business development including initial client contact, arranging meetings and agreeing on trading terms with schools, local authorities and third sector employer, along with supplying through neutral and sub-vending arrangements.

South Of England And Wales

My role during my first year at TTM Healthcare was based on large recruitment campaigns into nursing home groups, initially in the South West of England and South Wales expanding to include London and the South of England. This included sourcing candidates from host countries, conducting initial screening and conducting first stage interviews. Organising, hosting and facilitating employers face to face interviews in the nurses home countries including Spain, Poland and Romania. These successful campaigns for numbers between 10 and 30 nurses were ran for several medium and larger nursing home groups.For smaller campaigns I ran and facilitated Internet based client interviews.
